| Jan. 24, 2018 -- The construction of Sanjiangyuan National Park has officially started, said Li Xiaonan, head of Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration Department.
As the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, Sanjiangyuan area plays an important role in fresh water supply, ecological protection, and plateau species diversity.
The trial operation of Sanjiangyuan National Park started in northwest China’s Qinghai province in 2016. The park is scheduled by 2020 to officially become China’s first national park.
Despite difficulties, the department will strengthen ecological protection under the principle of innovation, coordination, scientific planning and deepened reform, in a bid to realize green development in Sanjiangyuan National Park, Li said.
