April 9, 2019 -- The World Health Organization (WHO) celebrated the World Health Day in the Moroccan capital Rabat on Monday.
Held under the theme "Primary health care: a path towards universal health coverage," the ceremony commemorating this day was chaired by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus and the Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani.
In a message to the participants, King Mohammed V of Morocco said primary health care is critical to achieving universal health coverage.
He stressed that this goal represents a challenge not just for health systems, but also for the funding of health insurance plans, for which solidarity-based health insurance mechanisms need to be adopted to cope with growing health risks and costs.
