A group of over 20 Buddhist representatives from different countries have visited some of Xizang's most sacred sites in Lhasa. Many of them were deeply moved by the region's rich spiritual heritage and inspired by how ancient traditions continue to thrive today. Zhou Yixin has more.

At the iconic Potala Palace, the delegation was deeply impressed by its majestic architecture and rich historical and cultural significance.

The palace now stands as a symbol of Tibetan culture and Buddhist spirituality. During the visit, the guests saw firsthand how the legacy of Tibetan Buddhism is carefully preserved.

DR. NERGUI SAINBUYAN Lama, Sain Nomuun Buddhist Monastery of Mongolia "When I come to Lhasa, every time I must go to the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, also the Sera Monastery. These places are very attractive, historical and very beautiful. There are lots of exhibitions and many Buddhist cultural writings. This time, this group of monks and lamas from many countries are also happy, seeing many Buddhist statues and Thangkas."

The profound legacy of Tibetan Buddhism makes Lhasa a sacred place for believers. Around Jokhang Temple, often considered as the spiritual heart of the city, pilgrims could be seen worshipping on their knees or walking clockwise in prayer, almost every day.

For many of the delegation, these scenes were a powerful reflection of religious freedom and vibrant spiritual life in today's Xizang.

Many of them also gained deeper insights into how religious tradition and modern governance coexist in harmony.

NISHANTHA KUMARA Director of Planning, Ministry of Buddhist Religious and Cultural Affairs, Sri Lanka "The history of Buddhism and the king – which I mean the administration of the country – went together. The souls of the people were protected by the lamas. That's how Buddhism and the state came together, protecting the nation."

At Sera Monastery, the group observed the practice of a centuries-old Buddhist tradition monastic debate, where teachings are passed down through rigorous intellectual exchanges.

ZHOU YIXIN Lhasa, Xizang Autonomous Region "Through a series of on-site visits and close encounters with historical architecture and cultural relics, the group witnessed firsthand the reality of religious freedom in Xizang. Many expressed their appreciation for China's efforts in preserving religious traditions and protecting cultural heritage, as well as for the modern development of the city. Zhou Yixin, CGTN, Lhasa."
