Jan.18,2018--Officials and experts from China and 20 other countries shared their thoughts on global governance at the Imperial Springs International Forum co-sponsored by Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association and held in south China's Guangzhou in November.

Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon said that he was inspired by the idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which could help reshape global governance, as some state leaders chose to become "national leaders" rather than "global leaders" by "erecting walls" instead of "building bridges".

Former President of Chile Ricardo Lagos said he learned from China's success in governance and development to promote the cause of poverty reduction in Chile.

George Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece, praised China's practical efforts to improve the global governance including the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative and its commitment to the Paris Agreement.

The Belt and Road Initiative will help alleviate poverty in Africa, which also has far-reaching influence on the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, said Cassam Uteem, former President of Mauritius.

President Xi is determined to find out a practical way to connect the world. China has attached great importance to the common concerns of humankind like climate change and desertification, and provided lots of support to the sustainable development in Caribbean countries, said Donald Ramotar, former President of Guyana.
