Happy life in Magmang ecological civilization demonstration village

Sept.21,2020 -- Drolma woke up and began to do housework at the crack of dawn.
 
In 2015, Drolma's family relocated from mountain area to Magmang Town, Conan County, Shannan City of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region and opened a family hotel in the summer of the same year. During off-season, Drolma usually wove some bamboo wares to increase income. Moreover, she learned wool knitting online and offered customized services.
 
"We get over 100,000 yuan RMB of annual income by running a family hotel, weaving handicrafts, making wooden bowls and receiving subsidies from the governmentm," said Drolma.
 
There are 49 family hotels like Drolma's, plus five restaurants, six teahouses and three local products sales centers, which all promote local income growth.
 
At an altitude of 2,860 meters, Magmang Town, a Monba ethnic group township, is at the center of Legpo Valley. It boasts dense forests and fresh air. Niangmu River runs clear through the village. In the past, due to the isolated location, people living here weren't rich.
 
"At the end of 2014, Magmang ecological civilization demonstration village was built, which saw a great improvement in local living environment. At the beginning of 2015, villagers began to relocate here. Now, 158 residents from 66 households have moved into new houses. The smallest house has two floors with 166 square meters, the largest one has three floors with 244 square meters," said Zhu Shoulong, party secretary of Magmang Town.   
 
"We make full use of local resources and develop rural tourism, Every year, the village receive more than 50,000 tourists. During this Labor Day holiday, 49 family hotels of the village are full of visitors." said Zhu Shoulong.
