Passenger throughput surpassed 50,000 during May Day holiday

May 14,2020 -- Tibet's airports handled 517 flights landing and taking off during the five-day May Day holiday, running from May 1 to 5. The passenger count was 55,517, while cargo and mail throughput was 571.5 tons, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Tibet Office. Starting from May 3, the summer-autumn flight schedule has been adopted.
 
During the holiday, Lhasa Gongkar Airport saw 363 flights. Its passenger and cargo throughput reached 43,735 and 493.956 tons; Qamdo Bangda Airport saw 58 flights. Its passenger and cargo and mail throughput reached 5,056 and 25.604 tons; Nyingchi Menling Airport saw 60 flights. Its passenger and cargo and mail throughput reached 4,099 and 39.82 tons; Nyingchi Menling Airport saw 12 flights. Its passenger and cargo and mail throughput reached 993 and 0.131 tons; Xigaze Heping Airport saw 24 flights. Its passenger and cargo and mail throughput reached 1,634 and 11.988 tons.
 
According to the summer-autumn flight schedule, seven new domestic air routes (Lhasa-Xuzhou, Lhasa-Zhanjiang, Nyingchi-Zhuhai) have been added. The number of flights from Tibet to Beijing, Chengdu, Shijia Zhuang and other cities has increased by 15 year on year. It is expected to rise by 14.9% in 2020 compared with the same period of 2019.
