Dec.19,2019 -- In recent years, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region (T.A.R.) has focused on the promotion of comprehensive demonstration project "e-commerce entering rural areas", and made progress in the development of e-commerce, according to the T.A.R. Bureau of Commerce. Currently, 27 counties of Tibet have been listed among National Comprehensive Demonstration Counties of "e-commerce entering rural areas". This year, Tibet has pushed forward the project all over the region.

Currently, there are 20 county-level e-commerce public service centers, 113 township-level service stations and 337 village-level service points in Tibet. An e-commerce service system covering agricultural and pastoral areas is initially formed. Over 30,000 cadres, farmers, herdsmen, migrant farmers have gotten trained in e-commerce. 744 online stores are opened to help farmers and herdsmen increase income, which also create over 300 jobs for people from registered impoverished households. With a more complete training system, e-commerce has become a significant driving force of poverty alleviation.

JD Logistics and Shunfeng Express have opened branches in Lhasa and other cities of Tibet. Some other logistics companies are developing their businesses in some counties and townships, too. The rural logistics system is becoming more complete. E-commerce promotion activities build bridges between buyers and sellers in rural areas. The online sales of 27 e-commerce demonstration counties have reached more than 200 million yuan RMB. E-commerce not only connects supply and demand sides, but also improves livelihoods of farmers and herdsmen.

Next, Tibet will continue to promote the development of "e-commerce entering rural areas". With an investment of 300 million yuan RMB, another 47 counties of the region are planned to be inscribed on the list. This project will be designed on the bases of "1 region-level e-commerce public service center + 7 city-level public service centers + 47 county-level service centers + N major village-level stations".
