Tibet Women and Children’s Hospital to be put into use by the end of this year

May 5, 2019 -- Tibet Women and Children's Hospital is one of the key construction projects and livelihood projects of Tibet Autonomous Region. It has officially started construction since October 2016. At present, 85% of the project has beenfinished, and it is expected to be totally completed in July and put into use by the end of this year.

After completion, it will become a comprehensive medical institution integrating maternal & child care service center as well as women's and children's hospital. With obstetrics and paediatrics as the main specialties, it will undertake important tasks such as medical treatment, health care, illness prevention, scientific research, rehabilitation, family planning, health education and so on.

In addition, the hospital will also set up two centers, namely "children's first aid center" (emergency department) and "congenital (genetic) disease treatment center/children's heart center".

Besides, the hospital will meet the standards set by Class III children's hospital, Class III maternity hospital as well as Class III maternal & child health care hospital, filling the gap of no children's hospital (maternal and child health care hospital) at the autonomous region level in Tibet.

Locating at Liuwu New District of Lhasa City and with a total investment of 599 million yuan RMB, the hospital will cover an area of over 40,000 square meters and be able to carry a daily outpatient reception of 2,000 people.
