Nov. 12, 2018 -- From January to September, the total business volume of the express service enterprises reached 4.078 million, with a year-on-year growth of 41.82 percent. However, with the rapid development of express delivery industry, the express packaging consumes a large number of disposable non-degradable plastic bags, causing many environmental pollution problems. To promote green packaging, Postal Administration of Lhasa City has comprehensively promoted electronic express waybill and used recyclable transit bags (boxes) to replace disposable plastic woven bags.

Tseyang, a citizen of Lhasa City says that for many citizens, excessive packaging is not only inconvenient, but also a little wasteful, because most citizens throw away the package. Postal Administration of Lhasa City has already taken appropriate measures to gradually promote green packaging of the express delivery industry.

Starting from the three links of production, sales and circulation, the Postal Administration of Lhasa City put forward supervision measures according to different fields and categories, and promoted the prevention and control of white pollution as well as the green packaging in steps, with goals and time limits.

A person in charge of the Postal Administration of Lhasa City said that green packaging is divided into two aspects including promoting electronic express waybill  and using recyclable transit bags (boxes). At present, more than 99% express waybills of Lhasa City's post industry have been digitized, and only a few express service points are still using the paper waybills that have not been used up in stock. In addition, through reducing the use of tape, managing e-commerce platform, strengthening green environmental protection supervision and other ways, more than 85% outbound express parcels of most express service enterprises use degradable and recyclable transit bags(boxes). A few enterprises, such as EMS, have fully realized the green packaging.

According to EMS, there are different packing ways for their packages weighing less than 8kg and more than 8kg. Postal Administration of Lhasa City will continue to promote the green packaging of express delivery industry, and encourage users to participate in the recycling of packaging and the use of green packaging, so as to constantly enhance people's environmental protection awareness.
