Aug.16,2018--On August 8, the launching ceremony of social security card of Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet, was held on the plaza of civic service center.
The social security card, which is issued in the city for the first time, integrates social security functions with financial applications on an IC card chip, making it easier to pay for insurance, get policy advice, receive treatments, and other social consumption fees.
As of now, Lhasa has produced 141,743 cards and it is expected that 450,000 cards will be issued this year.
In order to ensure that insured persons in Tibet Autonomous Region are able to fully enjoy relevant insured rights, in July 2017 and April 2018, the Tibet Autonomous Region Human Resources and Social Security Department sent personnel to Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, and other places where people insured in Tibet are concentrated to collect related information. Data collection work within Tibet has also been ongoing.
It is understood that the social security card being issued will be officially enabled in October.
