Good grain harvest expected in Tibet in 2017

Jan. 15, 2018 -- According to the Agricultural and Pastoral Department of Tibet Autonomous Region, in 2017, under the strong leadership of the party committee and government of Tibet Autonomous Region, close attention was paid to grain production safety, especially highland barley.
 
In accordance with field survey results at all levels, in 2017, Tibet's total grain output was expected to reach 1,037,000 tons and the average yield per mu was 377.58 kilograms, a year on year increase of 13,000 tons and 4.54 kilograms respectively.
 
The output of highland barley was expected to reach 795,000 tons, and the the average yield per mu was 378.2 kilograms, a year on year increase of 67,000 tons and 11.1 kilograms respectively. The output of wheat was expected to reach 199,000 tons, decreasing 32,000 tons. The output of other food crops was expected to reach 43,000 tons, decreasing 22,000 tons.
