Aug.11,2017--Summer is always the happiest time of a year for kids, when they can travel and visit different places together with their parents, but there's also many kids who need to visit their parents working in other cities. When the new term starts, they say goodbye to their parents and return home.

Zhang Yue is a member of the special client service team at Gonggar Airport in Lhasa. She says when kids unaccompanied are traveling alone, they're guided by their working team and parents need not to worry.

According to Zhang Yue, unaccompanied minors should be between 5 to 12 years old. Parents need to file an unaccompanied minor’s traveling application before buying ticket, provide his/her birth certificate, identity card or other valid documents, etc.

Then, the airline company will provide an application form with information about the unaccompanied minor, the drop-off and pick-up person, etc. After completing the form, the passenger will be able to check in at Gonggar Airport right on the day.

"After the boarding process is completed, the young passenger will receive an 'unaccompanied packet' and be guided to the special passenger area on the second floor of the Gonggar Airport, where there are special employees taking care of the children."

After the children get off the plane, airport staff will guide them all the way out of the station to their pick-up person. "In the 'unaccompanied packet', there is information about the pick-up person. After careful verification, a signature is needed before the child is picked up."

It is understood that August and September is the peak travel season for unaccompanied minors entering and leaving Tibet. On current peak days, there are as many as 80 unaccompanied children traveling through Gonggar Airport.
