May 31,2017--Lhasa Transportation Industry Group, the largest tourism company in Lhasa, has opened pilot tour routes on May 1st and it plans to open a total of 9 routes for tourists in the whole region and 6 inter-provincial routes within 3 years.

“The Belt and Road Initiative proposes to boost the development of western China. So our next step is to promote border trade and exchanges on tourism and culture with South Asian countries. By doing so, we hope to make tourism a powerful industry in Tibet,” said Ze Bing, general manager of Lhasa Transportation Industry Group.

Lin Sheng, deputy major of Lhasa, said that as an important passage to South Asia, Tibet borders many countries and has a land border of over 4,000 kilometers.

Currently, specialized tourism route is developing quite fast both home and aboard and it helps to reduce travel cost tourists. For now, the one-day tour routes to Namtso and YamdrokTso are hotspot routes and more will open to connect surrounding areas of Lhasa.
