May 23,2017--At present, the land expropriation and demolition work of the reconstruction and extension project of Konggar Airport has been nearly completed and it is expected to start construction in July this year.

Su Zhiqiang, member of the key project construction headquarter of Tibet Civil Aviation Administration, introduces that the budgetary investment of this project is 3.907 billion yuan. By 2025, Konggar Airport tries to accommodate 9 million personnel passenger throughput and 80000 tons cargo throughput. Therefore, 21 station sites, 88000 square meters T3 terminal and 56000 square meters parking lot will be constructed.

Since the Lhasa terminal group has been established on March 1, 1965, though after several times of reconstruction and extension, Konggar Ariport still cannot meet people's travel demand. In 2020, the passenger throughput of Tibet Civil Aviation is expected to be doubled on the basis of 2015.

The construction of new airport terminal area will further improve the comprehensive security capabilities of Konggar Airport, meet people's travel demand, and effectively promote Tibet's economic and social development.
