In accordance with the unified deployment of the state council, Tibet promotes faster and more affordable internet connection. From May 1, Tibet Telecom has reduced international long distance charges in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, along the Belt and Road, as well as long distance charges in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, by an average of 16%. From June 1, Tibet Telecom will lower internet charges so as to ease the funding burden of middle and small-sized enterprises.

 

For some remote areas at high elevation in Tibet, it is difficult to build mobile communication base stations. In 2015, movable signal was fully covered in all administrative villages. Then more and more people in agricultural and pastoral areas begin to live a life with mobile terminal. Next, Tibet will continue to promote information coverage project in villages and households. By taking advantage of big data platform, Tibet will vigorously support poverty alleviation work and speed up the service platform construction work to benefit farmers.

 

During the 12th Five Year Plan period, Tibet has realized the full coverage of movable signal in administrative villages and the broadband access rate has reached 83.8%.
