Jan. 4, 2017 -- Vaccination is helpful to guarantee children's health and it is the most efficient and economic method to prevent and control infectious diseases. According to the Lhasa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with the improvement of people's vaccination consciousness as well as all kinds of propagandas, this year, the vaccination rate of group one vaccines for children in Lhasa has hit 95%.
Vaccinations for children are mainly divided into group one vaccines and group two vaccines. Group one vaccines are provided by the nation for free, while group two vaccines are available for charge in accordance with physical and economic conditions.
At present, there are 9 kinds of group one vaccines in Tibet, namely Bacillus Calmette Guerin vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, polio vaccine, pertussis, diphtheria, and tetanus vaccine, leprosy vaccine, MMR vaccine, group A epidemic cerebro-spinal meningitis vaccine, A+C epidemic cerebro-spinal meningitis vaccine, and hepatitis A vaccine.
Maternal and child health hospitals at autonomous region level and Lhasa City level, People's Hospitals at all county (district) levels, health centers in townships, and health service centers in communities are all available for group one vaccines. Migrant children can enjoy the same vaccination right for free with local children. The 9 kinds of group one vaccines can prevent 11 kinds of diseases, while some even can prevent several kinds of diseases. Each vaccine has its own corresponding vaccination period and times.
Apart from group one vaccines, many parents will choose some group two vaccines such as varicella vaccine and haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine for their children.
