Tourism helps poverty alleviation in Tibet

Aug.3, 2016 -- Developing tourism will greatly step up poverty alleviation efforts since Tibet is abundant with tourism resources.
 
Up to now, over 500 million credit funds have been put into tourism service projects and companies in Tibet. 
 
Till the end of 2015, a total of 812 star-rated hotels have been built in Tibet. About 97,000  herdsmen and farmers have been engaged in tourism services and their annual income has increased by 10,500 yuan per person. 
 
Tibet determines to turn 1000 poor villages into tourism villages, which will help 62,000 people rid poverty by 2020.
