Jan. 26, 2018 -- Tibet will establish 30 Tibetan culture bases by 2020 to enhance the market competitiveness and influence of its cultural industry, said Norbu Tsering, head of the cultural industry office of Tibet Culture Department.
By the end of 2016, 4,680 Tibetan cultural enterprises had been registered with 32,000 people working in the industry. Tibet’s cultural sector in 2016 accounted for 3.01 percent of Tibet’s economy with an annual increase of 15 percent.
Tibetan cultural industry has entered an important development stage and is expected to be the pillar industry in Tibet’s economy by 2020, said Norbu Tsering.
In 2018, Tibet will strengthen policy coordination and increase support for financing, research and talent training to develop the cultural industry.
It is estimated that tens of thousands of people will shake off poverty by 2020 thanks to the development of the cultural industry, he added.
