Power supply has been restored to the core area of the mudslide-hit Gyirong Port in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, the State Grid said on Thursday.

Despite risks such as landslides and frequent rockfalls, frontline personnel worked around the clock to restore temporary power lines in the core area of the port at 8 p.m. Thursday, the company said.

This came after road access to the core area of the port was basically restored earlier on Wednesday.

Rescuers from multiple government agencies and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are carrying out in-depth search operations at Gyirong Port.

In the core affected area, a cumulative total of 336 rescuers have conducted multiple rounds of exhaustive searches, ensuring thorough coverage of every section.

To further support rescue efforts, the Ministry of Emergency Management, in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, has dispatched road-reinforcement and heavy-lift equipment to the site.

Central SOEs have also mobilized personnel and machinery to the core area, working to secure power supply and support relief operations, according to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

The fast-moving chain mudslide, triggered by a high-altitude glacier collapse in Nepal, struck Gyirong Port on Aug. 26, claiming 21 lives and leaving 541 others missing as of Wednesday noon.
