A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Tingri County in the city of Xigaze on Jan. 7, 2025, leveling thousands of houses. The day after the earthquake, Cering Lhaba was born in a hospital in Xigaze.

After being discharged from the hospital, the boy from quake-affected Tingri became the beloved baby of the residents living in the temporary prefabricated houses. When his parents had no time to take care of him, neighbors, village cadres and local officials all became his temporary babysitters.

Cering Lhaba, who has just spent his first birthday, has grown up healthily, and lives a pleasant life in his spacious and bright new home.
