Over 300 outdoor athletes from across the nation participated in a multisport event in Nyemo county of the Xizang autonomous region on Sunday, Xizang Daily reported.
Divided into three groups, the events included a rafting group, a parent-child group, and an exploration group; each group was made up of around 100 participants.
The rafting race was held in the Nyemo section of the Yarlung Zangbo River, with contestants maneuvering their rafts through challenging rapids and waves.
The outdoor exploration race was held at the county's Thonba Scenic Area. The competitions included activities such as hiking and checkpoint challenges.
The races provided participants with an exhilarating challenge and offered spectators a thrilling spectacle against the backdrop of Xizang's breathtaking natural beauty.
Nyemo county is known as the birthplace of Thonmi Sambodha, the creator of the Tibetan alphabet, who is also believed to be the originator of ancient Tibetan incense production, according to locals. The county aims to cultivate sports tourism brands, enhance local infrastructure and services, and host a diverse range of high-quality cultural and sports activities.
