On Feb. 17, 1995, Tibet Pearl Star Co., Ltd, the first joint-stock enterprise in Tibet Autonomous Region, was listed on the Shanghai Security Exchange.

On Feb. 17, 1986, the regional party committee and governmental organs in Tibet Autonomous Region sent a message of congratulations to the Grand Summons Ceremony held in Lhasa. The message stressed the importance of the ceremony to the people exchange, religious talents cultivation and Buddhist philosophy development.

On Feb. 17, 1984, the regional party committee and people’s government issued an announcement to require all the Tibetan officials to strengthen the study of Tibetan language.

On Feb. 17, 1953, Changdu-Lhasa section of Xikang-Tibet highway (currently Sichuan-Tibet highway) started construction of both the east line (from Changdu to the west) and the west line (from Lhasa to the east). Because of the extreme geological conditions, soldiers in Tibet were deployed and worked together with workers to guarantee the completion of the highway by the end of 1954.
