Children were spotted enjoying their extracurricular activities in the well-equipped Third Kindergarten of Nagqu City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region on Monday.

Nagqu City in Tibet Autonomous Region sits at an average altitude of more than 4,500 meters, with a sparse population and harsh natural environment. Although the counties of Nagqu are more than 500 kilometers away from the city center, many families from pastoral areas move to the city center for better education conditions.

The Third Kindergarten of Nagqu City, one of 279 kindergartens in the city, was officially put into use in October 2014. Covering an area of 4,992 square meters with a building area of 3,461 square meters, the kindergarten can accommodate 360 children. At present, there are 12 classes in the kindergarten, with 358 children, covering three ethnic groups, including Tibetan, Han and Hui.
