LHASA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- China's Tibet, one of the regions with the richest biodiversity in the world, has made remarkable achievements in ecological and biodiversity protection in recent years. Tibet has set up its first germplasm bank to promote the conservation of plateau biodiversity. Currently, nearly 8,500 germplasm samples of over 2,000 species have been stored in the germplasm bank. In addition, a key lab of biological resources and biosafety has been approved for construction, which will further help with biodiversity protection in key areas of the region.
