Oct. 31, 2016 -- China has slammed the Dalai Lama's plan to visit the disputed border area between China and India. The visit has been approved by the Indian government but China says the move poses a threat to regional peace and stability and may be harmful to China-India relations.

"China is resolutely against the Dalai Lama's visit to this disputed area. We call on the Indian government to strictly implement their promises over Tibet-related issues, respect consensus on border disputes reached between both sides, and take no action that is likely to complicate bilateral ties. India should not give a stage to the Dalai Lama's anti-China activities to ensure a healthy and stable development of relations," said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang.
