Feb. 15, 2017 -- Local villagers put on masks to prepare for dancing in Shimengou Village, Wenxiantielou Tibetan County, Longnan City, Gansu Province on February 10, 2017. Baima is one of the Tibetan groups with a population of less than 20 thousand. They mainly live in Wen County, Gansu Provinvce, and Pingwu County and jiuzhaigou County, Sichuan Provinces. As they mostly live in remote regions, many ancient cultures like Chigezhou, Fire circle dancing, toasting song, and folk arts and crafts like Shagari Hat are still rarely known to the outside. Chigezhou has been listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is a kind of dance performed in major sacrificial activities. Chige refers to mountain deity and Zhou means dance. The performance is a combination of dancing andsinging with religious and entertainment atmosphere. (Photo / Xin Yuewei)
