Enriched with cultural and tourism resources, Gyama village in Maldrogungkar county of the Tibet autonomous region, is a big attraction for visitors.

The fragile environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau will receive better legal protection, as the regional legislative body announced the Sept 1 implementation of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Ecological Protection Law.

As the main body of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Tibet plays an important role in implementing the law.

The law was adopted at the second session of the 14th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in April.

To keep up with the pace of national legislation and ensure the implementation of laws, the Standing Committee of the 12th People's Congress of the Tibet autonomous region also announced the measure, which makes strict provisions for ecological protection from the perspectives of system governance, legislative integration, law enforcement, legal supervision and judicial oversight.

The law also requires the Communist Party of China to play a leadership role in ecological civilization, including more security efforts and forming a joint force to promote the law. It lays a solid foundation for successful implementation.

The law involved "national ecological security, as well as the long-term development of the Chinese nation and the well-being of future generations", Liu Guangxu, secretary-general of the regional People's Congress Standing Committee, was quoted as saying by Tibet Daily.
