Nov. 3, 2016 -- The South Asia Institute of Tibetan Academy of Social Sciences(TASS) was established Monday. Jiangjie, vice chairman of Tibet and minister of its Publicity Department, and Baima Langjie, president of the TASS jointly launched the institute.

Jiang Jie expressed his congratulations to the establishment of the institute, and thanked the experts and scholars who have long been doing South Asian affairs studies.

The establishment of the institute is of great significance, improving and upgrading Tibet's academic system, said Jiang.

He also stressed that the institute should follow correct working guidance, adhere to Marxism, stick to people-centered principles, and serve as a think tank for the central government.
