A picturesque Tibetan wedding was held in a village of Nangqen county in Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Qinghai province, on Aug 8. The groom Karma Gyime, 25, and the bride Tashi Chodron, 24, experienced the moments they had dreamed of, on the plateau with an altitude of 4,000 meters.

Weddings celebrated in traditionally Tibetan culture usually consist of rituals such as presenting hada, chemar, and barley wine. Hada is the auspicious white Tibetan scarf that represents purity and honesty. Chemar is a richly decorated wooden box containing the traditional Tibetan food Tsampa, which is made of roasted barley flour, and roasted barley seeds.

Traditional dancing and singing, and Tibetan cuisine also added color and celebration to the big ceremony.

The newlyweds first met each other online, via a social network, and then decided to celebrate their romance in the most uniquely Tibetan way. The bride Tashi Chodron said she felt very happy to be with her groom as well as so many close friends and family members.
