July 10,2017--Dozens of overseas Chinese Tibetan children from the US and Nepal paid a visit to Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Southwest China’s Sichuan province on July 2 after visiting the panda base, Wuhou Temple and Qingcheng Mountain in Chengdu, provincial capital of Sichuan.
The overseas Chinese Tibetan children made the visit through joining in the 2017 “Chinese Root-seeking Trip” summer camp opened on June 27.
During the visit, they learned about the protection and heritage of religious culture in Sichuan’s Tibetan-inhabited areas, and about the history and development of Garz after visiting the Taigong Temple, the Garze Museum, the Sichuan Tibetan School and the Garze Prefecture Hospital.
When learning about the passing on of Tibet’s medical culture and Thangka art at the Sichuan Tibetan School, the overseas Tibetan children were amazed at the effort the school is putting into inheriting and protecting Tibetan culture. They were impressed by the deep-rooted culture and hope to do their bit in promoting ethnic culture.
