He noted that China has made great contributions to the global event by attracting 600 million people across the country to watch the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics on TV alone.

Bach also praised Chinese people for embracing the Games and providing an "experience of excitement, warmth, hospitality, and friendliness."

He spoke highly of the closed-loop management conducted by Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, saying it was a great success.

"With an infection rate of 0.01 percent, I guess it was one of the safest places on this planet. And this is a great achievement that made all of us safe and comfortable. It may send the message to the world that if everybody is respecting the rules of solidarity, and if everybody's contributing, then you can have such a great event like Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics under the terms of such a pandemic," Bach said.

He will rate the Games after the closing ceremony on Sunday.
