China pledges 300,000 USD for disaster relief in South Sudan

JUBA, Oct.13,2020 -- The Chinese government has pledged 300,000 U.S. dollars for disaster response in South Sudan.
 
Hua Ning, Chinese ambassador to South Sudan made the pledge during a meeting with South Sudan's Foreign Affairs Minister Beatrice Khamisa Wani on Monday.
 
Hua said the Chinese aid will help South Sudan respond to floods which have affected at least 800,000 people across the east African country.
 
"China will continue to work with South Sudan to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields as the two countries are going to celebrate the 10th anniversary of diplomatic ties," Hua said.
 
On her part, Khamisa appreciated the Chinese government and people for extending a helping hand at a time when South Sudan is hit by floods.
 
She said South Sudan is committed to bolstering relations with China for the benefits of the two peoples.
