April 10,2020-- "Please don't politicize this virus," said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) in a briefing in Geneva, urging political leaders to “quarantine politicizing COVID-19”, and calling for unity to fight the pandemic.
In response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s accusations and threat of withholding U.S. funding to the organization, Tedros said the organization "has been doing all it can since the beginning."
Tedros called on the U.S. and China to work together in fighting this dangerous enemy, saying that emphasizing the differences of political parties, beliefs and ideologies on the state level will do no good for the control of the disease.
Tedros said the true unity between China and the U.S., among the G20 countries and among all countries across the world is the key to winning the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
