July 12,2018--The 36th China-EU Human Rights Dialogue was held Monday in Beijing.
Liu Hua, Special Representative for Human Rights Affairs of the Foreign Ministry and Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director for Asia-Pacific Department of the European External Action Service of the EU co-chaired the dialogue. Officials including Li Junhua , Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Foreign Ministry of China and Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, EU ambassador to China attended the dialogue.
Both sides exchanged views on human rights developments and international cooperation, the rights of women and the disabled.
During the dialogue, the Chinese side presented information about the substantial progress of China's human rights cause, and asked the EU side to look at China's achievements in human rights in a comprehensive and object way and conduct human rights exchanges with China on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
The Chinese side also called on the EU to make real progress in refugee protection and gender discrimination.
Both sides hold that the dialogue was candid, comprehensive and deep, which promoted mutual understanding.
