About 520,000 primary students to return to school in Beijing

BEIJING, June 10,2020 -- Around 520,000 students in the first, second and third grades of primary schools in Beijing will resume classes on June 15, local education authority said Tuesday.
 
"Students and teachers in primary and middle school are required to wear masks during class," said Li Yi, a spokesperson for the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
 
Off-campus training institutions can apply in writing for resuming offline courses and collective activities after students in the aforementioned three grades resume class.
 
So far, about 840,000 students in more than 1,400 primary and middle schools in Beijing have returned to school. Students in grade three in Beijing's high schools resumed class on April 27, and students in grades one and two in high schools returned to campus on June 1.
 
The current semester will end on July 10 and summer vacation will begin on July 11.
 
On Saturday, Beijing lowered its emergency response to the COVID-19 epidemic to the third level, the second-lowest.
