China’s health literacy on stable rise

Nov. 23, 2017 -- In 2016, the health literacy rate of the Chinese people reached 11.58 percent, increasing 5.1 percent and 1.33 percent compared with 2008 and 2015 respectively, according to the National Health and Family Planning Commission.

China has endeavored to improve the health literacy of the public. It has proposed the Healthy China strategy and launched public health service projects and health literacy projects.

Governments at various levels across the country have been focusing on improving healthcare services to residents and increasing their health knowledge.

However, More efforts should be made to solve the imbalanced development between cities and rural areas, popularize basic health knowledge and encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle.
