Feb.26,2020 -- Recently, Xianghe water conservancy project and its supporting irrigation area project are stepping up; the preparations for the closure stage are advancing in an orderly manner, which is planned to be implemented in late February.

 

The project is one of 172 major water-saving and supply projects approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and a key project of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) for water conservancy reform and development in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.The project includes Xianghe water conservancy project and its supporting irrigation area project. The tasks mainly consist of power generation as well as irrigation, water supply, ecological environment improvement in nature reserves.

 

Upon completion, the project will play a positive and important role in improving local irrigation conditions for farmland, pastoral area and forestry, developing land as well as hydropower resources, providing urban and rural living and industrial water, improving ecological environment of black-necked crane national nature reserve in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, and also promoting poverty alleviation as well as economic and social development.
