Tibet strives to plant annual average of over 600 sq km of trees by 2020

April 5,2017--According to Tibet Autonomous Region's Department of Forestry, Tibet will continously carry forward the shelterbelt networks, prevention and control of desertification project and so on with all its strength, and strives to plant an annual average of over 600 sq km of trees by 2020. By that time, the urban per capita park green land area will reach 15 square meters, and the green coverage ratio of rural built up area will be not lower than 25 percents.
 
In 2016, Tibet completed 558.6 sq km of afforestation, 245.3 sq km of forest tending, and 33.3 sq km of a new round of returing the grain plots to forestry. At the same time, 92.2 sq km of constructing assignment in prevention and control of desertification was completed as well.
