Qamdo City has focused on the policies of "Rural poor people are free from worries over food and clothing and have access to compulsory education, basic medical services and safe housing", and increased investment to enhance people's wellbeing. This year, a total of 3.83 billion yuan RMB will be poured into industrial development, rural roads construction and drinking water safety enhancement, which will further transform people's way of living and production in poor areas.

 

"Now, the use of safe drinking water in rural areas of Qamdo City has been ensued. 93% of local residents have access to tap water. The percentages of centralized water supply and running water supply have reached 99.5% and 95%. 11,400 dilapidated rural houses were renovated. With the establishment of 98 standardized township hospitals, people now enjoy better medical care services," says Wei Qiang, deputy mayor of Qamdo City. To swiftly facilitate the resumption of industrial projects, the city has implemented 789 projects for poverty elimination, increasing income for 100,835 people from registered impoverished households.

 

In addition, 385 new rural power grids addressed 518,000 residents' difficulty in using electricity.
