To build regional tea brands and expand tea market, Tibet's Tea Culture Association was set up in 2016. It has been playing a significant role in advancing the development of local tea industry while publicizing local tea culture.

 

Nyingchi City has continued to take tea business as one of its pillar industries for promoting economic growth and poverty alleviation. With the guidance of experts, local farmers and herdsmen are encouraged to engage in this business to increase their income and realize employment.

 

Tea trees usually take four to five years to grow before people picking their leaves. Farmers and herdsmen of both Zayu and Bomi counties have begun to pick ripe tea leaves since the middle of March. Every year, tea-leaves picking work greatly brings income growth. Now, there are 27 kinds of tea in the region, like Tibetan spring tea, black tea and dark tea.

 

Moreover, tea industry facilitates the development of sightseeing tourism. In Nyingchi Yi'ong Tea Garden, tourism leisure business has been combined with outdoor sightseeing tourism, which attracts more visitors.

 

The development of tea industry includes a number of links, such as plantation, processing, transportation and sales, helping about 25,000 farmers and herdsmen land jobs and realizing per capita income of about 3,000 yuan RMB annually.
