Shannan: traditional techniques increase people’s income

July 18, 2019 -- According to relevant local departments, Shannan City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, combined the advantages of traditional techniques, policies and projects, and explored the work mode of "intangible cultural heritage + poverty alleviation", which increased local farmers and herdsmen's incomes last year.
Last year, Cicheng Tibetan incense making technique (Cicheng Agricultural Products Processing Professional Cooperative) in Qusum Town, Qusum County of Shannan City, won the honorary title of "Tibet Autonomous Region Cultural Industry Demonstration Base", which paid 300,000 yuan RMB for workers and gave 40,000 yuan RMB of dividends for poor households. Zetieer knitting skill (Tibetan wool Hand-knitting Professional Cooperative in Nedong District) generated income of 5.4 million yuan RMB and helped 13 poor people find jobs.
Up to now, there are 117 ethnic handicraft enterprises (cooperatives) in the whole city, including 36 enterprises and 81 farmers and herdsmen's professional cooperatives; the annual output value of ethnic handicraft industry exceeds 100 million yuan RMB.
