May 10,2018--The construction of Shigatse economic development zone has started recently, according to a press conference held by Shiatse government in east China's Shanghai.

Shigatse economic development zone, 50 kilometers from the airport, lies to the south of downtown Shigatse, covering an area of 36.3 square kilometers. It can accommodate about 120,000 residents. As an economic growth area in Shigatse, it is a pilot demonstration zone for the new type of urbanization.

The Belt and Road Initiative brings opportunities for the development of Shigatse. Thanks to the preferential polices and proactive conditions, the economic development zone will become the most convenient platform for both trade and processing, pushing forward the development of outward economy to a higher level.

The blueprint of Shigatse economic development zone is "two districts, three axes, four belts and five cores". There will be a new city area and an industrial area. The three axes are two urban development belts along Shangdong south road and Shanghai south road, and one industrial development belt along Mt.Qomolangma road. Besides, there are four biological sightseeing belts, and five core areas (administrative center, residence center, education center, business center and industrial service center).
