Affected by special geology, climatic environment and road condition, road maintenance work plays an important role in guaranteeing that road is safe and unblocked. With the growth of logistics and human traffic, the road traffic volume is expanding day by day, which raises higher requirements for road maintenance. Therefore, over the past five years, Tibet's road system has been comprehensively improving service level and the road maintenance quality has been greatly improved.

 

Lu Aiben, deputy party secretary and director general of the Highway Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region, introduces that, over the past five years, 3.749 billion yuan has been invested in the road maintenance engineering. 219 bridges in danger are reconstructed and 19700 kilometers of safety life protection projects are carried out. Besides, 1325 bridges and 45 tunnels are detected.

 

Over the past five years, the emergency service level of Tibet's road system has been greatly improved. 14 rescue stations are built along high mountain roads and sections with highway distress, accumulatively rescuing about 35000 drivers and passengers.
