Lhasa Astronomy Science Experience Museum to be put into operation in August, 2018

Dec.20,2017--Recently, the Lhasa Astronomy Science Experience Museum has started construction and it is planed to be put into operation in August, 2018, according to the Management Committee of Lhasa Economic and Technological Development District.
 
Lhasa Astronomy Science Experience Museum is located in Lhasa Economic and Technological Development District. With a planned investment of 169 million yuan, it covers a floor area of 7,692 square meters and a building area of 14,000 square meters. There are science experience hall, dome theater, VR theater, star-gazing telescope and other experience projects in this museum. In addition, science popularization activities such as news conference, science lecture, astronomical observation and so on will be held in this museum.
 
After construction, the museum is expected to receive 100,000 people every year and the annual income is expected to reach 30 million yuan.
 
With characteristics of high altitude, less air pollution and less light pollution, Tibet is an important base of astronomical research. Previously, the Yangpachen Observation Station and Ngari Astronomical Observation Base of National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences have already been built in Tibet. Besides, Tibet's first planetarium is also under construction.
