March 14,2017--The poor population of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture's decreased from 283,900 at the end of 2011 to 79,300 at the end of 2016, and poverty incidence dropped from 51% to 14%, according to the Ethnic Affairs Commission of Gansu Province, northwest China.
In 2016, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture made a total investment of 63 million Yuan, lifting 35,000 people out of poverty. The prefecture also integrated a total of 1.964 billion yuan to improve infrastructure in poverty-stricken villages, cultivate people-enriching industries, build relocation projects and train farmer new skills.
Besides, the prefecture put a special loan of 1.24 billion yuan for targeted poverty alleviation, covering 25,000 poor households.
