July 28, 2016 -- Tibet invested 5.698 billion yuan in improving rural living conditions from 2010 to 2015, according to Tibet’s Comfortable Housing Office.

Since 2010, a total of 5,398 administrative villages have been covered.

“We used to live in an adobe house which was narrow, shabby and crowded. Sometimes, there was no electricity at night. Now with our own savings and allowances received from the comfortable house project, we have built up a big brick house with four bedrooms,” said Mima, a villager of Redui Village of Lhasa’s Qushui County.

“In recent years, rural living conditions have been greatly improved. The main road of our village has been renovated with cement. Road lights and sewerage system have also been constructed,” added Mima.

As the social and economic development of different cities in Tibet has long been imbalanced, Tibet has rolled out improvement strategies based on their real conditions.

“Since 2012, about one million yuan have been invested in improving living conditions in our village,” said Ciren Dunzhu, Party Secretary of Langda Village.

“In the future, Tibet will explore a long-term mechanism to combine government’s supports, with village management and the market,” said Ciren Langjie, Deputy Director of Tibet’s Comfortable House Office.
