Nyingchi: Bayi receives 174,000 tourists in 1st quarter

May 17, 2016 -- According to Bayi's Tourism Bureau, Bayi District of Nyingchi City received more than 174,000 tourists from January to March in 2016, up by 53.23 percent year-on-year. The tourism revenue reached 157 million yuan (about 24.13 million U.S. dollars) in total, a year-on-year increase of 37.3 percent. Tourism is developing steadily and rapidly.
In recent years, Bayi District of Nyingchi, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, has increased its promotional channels. With the use of Wechat (an SNS App) and other platforms, Bayi's tourism resources have been promoted. The 14th Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival, themed "Pure Land, Beautiful Nyingchi", was held in Bayi's Gala Village starting March 23, 2016. The total tourism revenue in the first week reached 476,000 yuan (about 73,161 U.S. dollars).
Bayi District enjoyed satisfying tourism landscape featuring rural tourism, folk custom tourism and other forms of tourism in the first quarter of 2016, owing to its unique ethnic culture, biological culture and beautiful scenery.
