Oct. 16, 2017 -- In the five years since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Tibet has issued a series of policies to develop its culture industry. An investment of 1.5 billion yuan from the central government and 2 billion yuan of financial aid from ministries and other provinces have been provided to help Tibet’s cultural development. Tibet has built a variety of cultural facilities such as township cultural stations and libraries to improve public cultural services. More than 90 cultural brands like Sho Dun Festival have been established, benefiting 10 million people. Tibet has formulated plans to develop the cultural industry into a competitive pillar industry. A bunch of feature industry projects have been put in place with an estimated investment of 40 billion yuan. In 2016, the total value of Tibet’s cultural industry in reached 3.45 billion yuan, accounting for 3.01 percent of Tibet’s GDP with a year-on-year growth of 15 percent. Thanks to an investment of 160 million yuan from the central budget, Tibet has made remarkable achievements in the protection of intangible cultural heritages by the end of 2016.
