June 12, 2016 -- From 2-4 June 2016, Tibetan cultural delegation of China led by Mr. Hao Shiyuan, Secretary General of the Presidium of Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, visited Iceland. They respectively met with Mr. Andri Stefánsson, professor of the University of Iceland, Ms. Karitas H. Gunnarsdóttir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland, and Mr. Arntór Helgason, Chairperson of the Icelandic-Chinese Cultural Society. Gunnarsdóttir The delegation introduced the recent economic and social development in China' Tibet Autonomous Region. They said that since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the Reform and Opening-up, Tibet has undergone dramatic changes and people's living standards have been enormously improving. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of Tibetan culture and the Tibetan language, religion, cultural heritage and life style and customs have been well protected and inherited. They hope that relevant authorities of China and Iceland would continue their cooperation. They welcome people from all walks of life in Iceland to visit Tibet. |
