Aba: 9th Tibetan chess invitational begins

April 19, 2018 -- The 9th annual Tibetan Chess Invitational has started in Aba County in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, attracting more than 150 Tibetan chess enthusiasts  from Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, and other regions.
 
Tibetan chess, also known as multi-eye chess, is a game evolved from ancient chess (17×17 grid), where the chess pieces are in black and white. Tibetan chess was popular among the upper class in ancient Tibet. The game still attracts a lot of chess lovers today. In addition, Tibetan chess is also popular in countries neighboring China like Nepal, India, Bhutan, etc.
